The NOMATIC Peter McKinnon 8L Sling is a camera bag designed for photographers who need a compact and functional solution to carry their gear on the go. Since getting into sports photography this 8L sling has come in clutch for what I need. It has several features that make it stand out from other camera bags I have used. Since one of the things we focus on most at NOMATIC is functionality. Here are a few tips and features I love about this bag.
The most impressive feature is how much space this bag provides. When shooting sports photography this sling comfortably fits my setup with one lens attached (Sony A7R IV + 70-200mm G). The ability to carry two carry two additional batteries and three additional memory cards just sweetens the pot for sports and wedding photographers. When shooting anything other than sports, I can maximize the space in the sling by taking my preferred camera detached from any lens so I can bring two lenses with me. Since this sling is made with durable materials, when the sling opens up the front shell can also be used as a lens changing bay. Then all it takes is two quick twists of your camera and lens caps, then you are ready to attach and start shooting.
Another feature I really like about this sling are the molle hooks. Having the ability to add accessory straps to the bag is really nice and I think they are a must have add-on. The ability to add a tripod to this little bag can come in handy. The accessory straps can also be used to attach other items like water bottles or jackets. I really like to take my tripod along for some specific sports shots and also if I go take landscape or long exposure photos, these straps come in handy on almost every photo shoot I go to.
One of the features that I think is underrated, is the quick latch system. On the inside lip of the front shell there is an elastic cord and a pull tab and hook on the top of the sling that it attaches to. This has saved me so many times. I know a lot of photographers have been in this situation where having a camera in their hand and trying to zip up a bag is extremely hard. This feature allows me to open and close my sling with one hand. When having my bag closed with the quick latch even though the bag is not zipped my additional lens or accessories won’t take a tumble out of my sling.
I could go on and on about this sling, I personally never thought I would be a sling kind of photographer but this one quickly changed that for me.
